Complete conversion in 40th Anniversary style

The 40th Anniversary Conversion Kit reinterprets the classic G/S and PD design language for the BMW R 1200 GS. Together, the replacement components are 6,4 kg lighter than the original parts they replace. As the standard parts are not permanently modified, the motorcycle can later be returned to its original configuration. The specified installation time is approximately four hours.

Design and Bodywork

• Pair of lightweight black tank covers made from special resin with carbon-fiber reinforcements, graphics, and transparent protection
• Tank covers including mounting holes, screws, rubber parts, rear bracket, and machined bushings for the front mounting points
• Quickly removable right tank cover for access to the air filter
• Rear tank bracket with a slot for a tank bag
• Extremely lightweight matte black side panels with R 120 G/S graphics, mounting hardware, rubber parts, and screws
• Transparent protective film to protect the frame paintwork
• Lightweight aluminum-colored side covers with a matte finish
• Racing decal set supplied separately

Seat, Tank Strap, and Luggage Rack

• Black synthetic-leather seat with high-frequency-embossed rider areas and hand-stitched sides using cotton thread
• Seat frame for installation at the original mounting points
• The original seat lock and therefore the same vehicle key are retained
• Handcrafted full-grain leather tank strap with nylon thread; it conceals the joint between the tank covers and allows optional accessories to be installed
• Luggage rack made from durable powder-coated steel with passenger grab handles

Front and Lighting

• Adjustable headlight with H11 bulbs and optical unit from the R 1200 R model
• Wiring with a compatible connector for the original system
• Headlight frame made from durable powder-coated steel for mounting the headlight, turn signals, high-mounted fender, and optional fairing components
• CNC-machined handlebar risers made from solid aluminum alloy with an anodized finish; the original handlebar position is retained
• Matte black front fender with lines inspired by the 1980s GS; this version is intended exclusively for low installation in the original position
• Matte black Fenouil windshield made from ABS with mounting clips and a diameter of 185 mm

Rear and Luggage Options

• Lightweight matte black rear fender for the original mounting points
• Taillight with bulb and wiring compatible with the original connector, requiring no modification to the electrical system
• Eyelets for turn-signal cables and mounting screws
• Prepared for Adventure bag frames and suitable brackets for original Vario plastic cases
• Original Adventure aluminum cases can be used with metal frames
• Original Vario plastic cases require a case frame available separately

Protection and Oil Cooling

• Robust powder-coated steel fuel-tank brackets for the respective model years
• Crash bars and engine guard made from powder-coated steel, including spacer bushings and screws
• Additional side protection for off-road falls
• Most maintenance work can be performed without removing the crash bar
• Powder-coated steel oil-cooler bracket that also serves as a cooler guard
• Lightweight finned aluminum oil cooler
• Oil-line set for installing the cooler on the right side of the crash bar, including steel clamps, fittings, and upper copper seals
• The lower left connection remains original

Installation Notes

Certain fasteners and rubber parts are transferred from the original motorcycle. To join the tank covers, the three upper original clips must be used with the supplied M5 button-head screws. The original pointed M5 screws must not be used at this point, as they may damage the tank. The three rubber parts from the original subframe are also reused for the instrument panel.

Compatibility

The kit is designed for BMW R 1200 GS models from model years 2004 to 2012 and is available in versions for 2004–2007 and 2008–2012. On the Adventure model, installation is possible only if the original plastic tank is replaced with the original plastic tank from the R 1200 GS model. Individual original emblems are not included in the kit and must be transferred from the motorcycle or obtained separately.
