Complete G/S conversion kit for the BMW R 1200 GS

The R120 Kit transforms the BMW R 1200 GS into a distinctive interpretation of classic G/S motorcycles. This comprehensive conversion combines new fairing, seat, lighting, protection and oil cooler components without permanently modifying the original parts.

According to the manufacturer, the kit's replacement parts weigh a total of 6,4 kg less than the standard components. Four kilograms are accounted for by parts located in front of the handlebars on the standard GS. This is intended to improve handling in the city and on mixed routes compared with the standard model. The motorcycle can still be returned to its original condition at a later date.

Tank, Seat and Side Sections

• Pair of lightweight tank covers made of special resin with carbon fiber reinforcements, graphics and a clear protective finish
• Tank covers including holes, screws, rubber pads, rear bracket and turned bushings
• Right tank cover can be removed quickly for air filter maintenance
• Rear bracket with a slot for attaching a tank bag
• Seat made of high-frequency embossed synthetic leather with hand-finished side stitching in cotton thread
• Seat frame for the original mounting points; the original lock and vehicle key remain usable
• Lightweight side panels with R120-G/S graphics, a clear finish and complete mounting hardware
• Clear protective film to preserve the frame's paintwork
• Lightweight side covers with a matte aluminum finish

Three original M5 clips from the motorcycle and the supplied M5 × 12 mm button-head screws are used for the upper connections of the tank covers. The original pointed M5 screws must not be used in this location, as they may damage the tank. The side R1200-GS logos must be transferred from the motorcycle or purchased separately.

Fenders and Rear

• Lightweight rear fender in the selected version for installation on the original mounting points
• Tail light with bulb and a plug connection compatible with the original system
• No modifications to the electrical system are required to connect the tail light
• Eyelets for turn signal cables and mounting screws included
• Front fender styled after classic GS models from the 1980s
• Depending on the selected version, the front fender can be mounted high or low; the matte black version is intended only for the low original position
• Steel luggage rack with durable powder coating, aluminum spacers and passenger grab handles

The original R1200-GS logo for the rear fender is not included in the kit. Standard mounts for Vario plastic cases cannot be installed directly on the kit; the separately available Unit Garage case frame is required. Original ADV aluminum cases with metal frames can be used in the R120-G/S configuration.

Handlebars, Headlight and Front Fairing

• Model-specific CNC-machined handlebar risers made of solid aluminum alloy with an anodized finish
• The original handlebar position and upper section of the risers are retained

The three rubber pads from the original subframe are retained for the instrument cluster with speedometer and tachometer and inserted into the designated mounts.

Tank Mounts and Engine Protection

• Sturdy fuel tank mounts made of steel with a highly durable powder coating
• Installed at the mounting points of the removed original subframe
• Prepared to accommodate the original rubber pads of the R 1200 GS
• Crash bar and engine guard made of powder-coated steel
• Additional side protection brace for off-road falls
• Spacer bushings and screws for installation included
• Most maintenance work can be performed without removing the protection bar

Oil Cooler and Lines

• Powder-coated steel oil cooler bracket that also serves as an oil cooler guard
• Aluminum finned oil cooler with high cooling performance and low weight
• Complete oil line set for positioning the oil cooler on the right side of the crash bar
• Steel clamps, connectors and upper copper seals included
• The lower left connection remains in its original condition

Installation and Compatibility

The kit is intended for BMW R 1200 GS models from model years 2004 to 2012 and is available in versions for 2004–2007 and 2008–2012. The stated installation time is approximately four hours. Some components deliberately left original are transferred from the motorcycle.

On an Adventure model, the kit can only be installed if the original plastic tank is replaced with the original tank from an R 1200 GS. Product details may change as part of ongoing development; images may show an earlier version.
