Complete R GR86 Kit for a Return to Classic G/S Style

The R GR86 Kit fundamentally transforms the appearance of the BMW R 120 G/S R, drawing inspiration from the origins of the G/S while retaining comfort and rideability. According to the manufacturer, installation takes approximately two hours, requires no permanent modification of the original parts and is fully reversible. The headlight, oil cooler and front fairing continue to be used for this conversion.

Tank Covers

The tank covers are supplied as a pair in Alpine White with graphics and a transparent protective finish. They are made from special resin and MAT with carbon-fiber reinforcements and are lightweight and quick to install.

  • Complete with holes, screws and rubber buffers
  • Rear mounting bracket and machined bushings for front installation included
  • Right side panel can be quickly removed for air-filter maintenance
  • Slot on the rear bracket for attaching a tank bag
  • The original R1200-GS logo can be transferred from the motorcycle; an additional logo is not included

The motorcycle's three original upper M5 clips are reused to connect the covers. The supplied 12 mm-long M5 screws must be inserted into them. The original pointed M5 screws must not be used, as they may damage the tank covers.

Seat

Depending on the selection, the seat is available in standard height or as a lowered version, as well as in the offered colors. The lowered version has a specified seat height of 82 cm. Its narrower, rounder shape reduces leg spread, making it easier for the rider's feet to reach the ground.

Side Panels and Side Covers

The lightweight side panels have a matte black, transparent protective finish and R120-G/S graphics. Mounting hardware, rubber components and screws are included; no modifications to the motorcycle are required. A transparent protective film prevents damage to the frame paintwork. The side panels are designed for ADV pannier frames and the separately available Unit Garage brackets for original Vario plastic panniers.

They are complemented by lightweight, aluminum-colored side covers with a matte finish. These use the original mounting points and are supplied with inserts and mounting screws.

Rear Fender

The lightweight rear fender has a matte black, transparent protective finish and holes for pannier frames. It attaches to the original mounting points.

Original Vario plastic panniers cannot be mounted directly to the kit. The separately available Unit Garage pannier frame is required. Original ADV aluminum panniers with metal frames can be used in the converted configuration.

Luggage Rack and Tank Strap

The luggage rack is made of steel with a highly durable powder coating. It is installed using aluminum spacers and the original screws and features practical passenger grab handles.

The handcrafted tank strap is made from Italian full-grain leather and stitched with nylon thread. It conceals the joint between the tank covers and also serves to attach optional accessories. All required installation hardware is supplied.
